Domain transfers typically take 5-10 business days depending on how much access we have to the domain. It is preferred that client provides username and password to ease the process. You can check WHOIS to find details about the domain and where it has been registered.

It is apparent that process is checked every couple of days to ensure transfer has gone through. Please create a task and keep open until complete.

General Transfers from Other Registrar

If client has provided username and password:

  1. Emails: Changing A record might disrupt current email services. Please double check with Belinda if client would like to keep current emails.
  2. A Record: To make website live immediately, update A record to IP found in Gateway.
  3. Change email address on file to designer email. Notifications will be sent there to approve.
  4. Unlock domain
  5. Send EPP code (and other codes if registrar requires)
  6. Purchase domain transfer from Optimized360 Godaddy account. Godaddy will send codes as well.
  7. Check email for approvals and approve.
  8. Log onto Godaddy and insert EPP/codes in domain transfer area.
  9. Client will have 5 business days to stop this transfer, otherwise, it will go through.
  10. Check Godaddy in 5 business days to ensure process is complete.
  11. Once in our account, adjust A record for website changes and MX record for email changes.

If client does not provide username/password:

  1. Emails: Changing A record might disrupt current email services. Please double check with Belinda if client would like to keep current emails.
  2. Ask client to change A record to IP found in Gateway.
  3. Ask that client sends EPP code, unlock domain and if possible, change email address on file. If not, they will be responsible to check their email for approvals.
  4. Purchase domain transfer from Optimized360 Godaddy account. Godaddy will send codes, please ask client to forward them.
  5. Insert all codes into Godaddy account.
  6. Client will have 5 business days to stop this transfer, otherwise, it will go through.
  7. Check Godaddy in 5 business days to ensure process is complete.
  8. Once in our account, adjust A record for website changes and MX record for email changes

Changing A Record for register.com
Here are the screenshots from today’s issue with domain forwarding in register.com.
WHAT WE DID:
  1. Contacted register.com support
  2. Canceled hosting (in this case, it was an “ECommerce” hosting plan)
  3. Added westlibertydentistry.com as a forward, NOT the IP address

Also, notifying client that his domain expires in 2 weeks and suggesting to transfer out the domain now so that the old website does not go down.
